Founder Anna Margrét Björnsson is based in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has worked as a journalist and editor since 1999. Her long experience as a journalist developed strong writing skills and the ability to create a compelling story, and built a strong network of connections both with Icelandic and international media.
Coming from a diplomatic background she has travelled extensively and lived abroad for many years of her life, including in London and Paris and is bilingual in Icelandic and English as well as having good French skills. She was a journalist and later editor-in-chief of English language magazine Iceland Review, editor of Icelandair’s airline magazine Atlantica, editor of arts, music and fashion magazine Sirkus Rvk, editor of the weekend section and fashion editor of Fréttablaðið newspaper, editor of magazine and website Reykjavik.com, journalist at Morgunblaðið newspaper and mbl.is and editor of English language news site Iceland Monitor. She has also freelanced for the BBC and the Reykjavik Grapevine.
Anna Margrét also worked for five years (2010- 2014) as PR for Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre where she managed the website, social media, organised press trips, worked on PR with large festivals and companies such as Iceland Airwaves, Sónar Reykjavik, Reykjavik Fashion Festival, Iceland Naturally, the Iceland Design Centre and many more. She also set up a series of concerts at Harpa called Undercurrent which showcased new talent in the Icelandic music scene. In 2014 she worked as PR for the Reykjavik International Film Festival, organised press trips, events and managed social media.
Anna Margrét has taken on multiple freelance PR and writing projects in the last ten years. These include PR and events for Hlemmur Square hotel owned by renowned international hotelier Klaus Ortlieb, PR and launch event of Út í bláinn restaurant at The Pearl in Reykjavik, writing and PR for Kex Hostel in Reykjavik, translations, PR and writing for Fosshótel hotels in Iceland, PR for DILL restaurant in Reykjavik, website and PR for natural food company Íslensk Hollusta, website and launch campaign of Lamb Street Food restaurant in Reykjavik,PR for breweries Lady Brewery and Og Natura, PR for jewellery company ORR, PR and website text for fashion labels Sævar Markús, Hildur Yeoman, MYRKA Iceland, JÖR, KYRJA, DEAD and the Iceland Design Centre.
In December 2018, Anna Margrét published her first children’s book Milli svefns og Vöku with illustrations by designer Laufey Jónsdóttir. The book was nominated for the Reykjavik Children’s Book Award and received an award from FÍT, Iceland’s association of illustrators and graphic designers.
Ambeth PR & Events was officially set up in April 2019.
